I really appreciate blackout day because there was a time not too long ago where I would get self conscious about how many black people I could reblog in a row before people started unfollowing me. There was a time not too long ago where I would never post a picture of myself because I didn’t think anyone would appreciate what I looked like, because I didn’t even appreciate what I looked like. But Blackout Day force fed me the truth about my people and myself, and it is such a relieving and beautiful thing to appreciate yourself and your skin tone and your lips and your nose and your hips and all of your body and to stop looking down on yourself because of your skin color.
